Jesus, Eternal Priest - A Prayer for Priests

O Jesus,
Eternal Priest,
keep Thy priests within the shelter
of Thy Sacred Heart,
where none may touch them.

Keep unstained their anointed hands,
which daily touch
Thy Sacred Body;

Keep unsullied their lips,
daily purpled with Thy Precious Blood;

Keep pure and unworldly their hearts,
sealed with the sublime mark of Thy Priesthood.

Let Thy holy love surround them from the
world's contagion.
Bless their labors with abundant fruit.

May the souls to whom they minister be their joy
and consolation here,
and their everlasting crown in heaven.

Amen.

Prayer for Holy Priests

Source: Truth Himself

"The life of a priest is an Advent
bringing forth the Incarnation of souls."
St Elizabeth of the Trinity

PRAYER FOR HOLY PRIESTS
(St Charles Borromeo)
O Holy Mother of God,
pray for the priests
your Son has chosen to serve the Church.
Help them, by your intercession,
to be holy, zealous and chaste.
Make them models of virtue
in the service of God’s people.
Help them to be prayerful in meditations,
efficacious in preaching,
and zealous in the daily offering of
the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Help them administer the sacraments with joy.
Amen

Mother of Priests by Saint Pope John Paul II

O Mary,
Mother of Jesus Christ and Mother of priests,
accept this title which we bestow on you
to celebrate your motherhood
and to contemplate with you the priesthood
of your Son and of your sons,
O Holy Mother of God.

O Mother of Christ,
to the Messiah-priest you gave a body of flesh
through the anointing of the Holy Spirit
for the salvation of the poor and the contrite of heart;
guard priests in your heart and in the Church,
O Mother of the Savior.

O Mother of Faith,
you accompanied  to the Temple the Son of Man,
the fulfillment of the promises given to the fathers;
give to the Father for His glory
the priests of your Son,
O Ark of the Covenant.

O Mother of the Church,
in the midst of the Disciples in the upper room
you prayed to the Spirit for the new people and their shepherds;
obtain for the Order of Presbyters
a full measure of gifts,
O Queen of the Apostles.

O Mother of Jesus Christ,
you were with him at the beginning
of his life and mission,
you sought the Master among the crowd,
you stood beside him when he was lifted
up from the earth
consumed as the one Eternal Sacrifice,
and you had John, your son, near at hand;
accept from the beginning those
who have been called,
protect their growth,
in their life ministry accompany
your sons,
O Mother of Priests.
Amen.

Prayer for the intercession of the Blessed Mother for our Priests

Dear Lord, we pray that the Blessed Mother
wrap Her mantle around Your priests
and through her intercession,
strengthen them for their ministry.
We pray that Mary will guide Your priests
to follow her own words,
"Do whatever He tells you." (Jn. 2:5)
May Your priests have the heart of St. Joseph,
Mary's most chaste spouse.
May the Blessed Mother's own pierced heart
inspire them to embrace all who suffer
at the foot of the Cross.
May Your priests be holy,
filled with the fire of Your love,
seeking nothing but Your great glory
and the salvation of souls.  Amen.

Prayer for priests

O my Jesus,
I beg You on behalf of the whole Church:
Grant it love and the light of Your Spirit
and give power to the words of priests
so that hardened hearts might be brought to repentance
and return to You, O Lord.

Lord, give us holy priests;
You Yourself maintain them in holiness.
O Divine and Great High Priest,
may the power of Your mercy accompany them everywhere
and protect them from the devil's traps and snares
which are continually being set for the souls of priests.
May the power of Your mercy, O Lord,
shatter and bring to naught
all that might tarnish the sanctity of priests,
for You can do all things.
I ask You, Jesus,
for a special blessing
and for light for the priests
before whom I will make my confessions throughout my lifetime.

Amen.

Novena to St. Damien of Moloka'i, Starts on May 1

Source: Wikipedia

Novena to St. Damien of Moloka'i starts today, Wednesday, May 1, and ends on Thursday, May 9.

Please pray for our priests and seminarians and for an increase in vocations to the Church.

At Adoration: Pray for Priests and Increase of Vocation to the Priesthood

As our priests look to God in adoration, let us do the same.

In adoration of the God of Host, we pray for our priests whose work of sanctification of man honors the High Priest.

This month is vocations month. We pray for many souls to respond to God's call of sanctification of man: We pray that many men will consider entering the seminary, and, that those in the seminary will persevere in their spiritual life and studies.

Lord of Lords

Beholding Your beauty
Is all that I long for
 To worship You Jesus
 Is my sole desire
 For this very heart
You have shaped for be your pleasure
Purposed to lift Your Name higher
 Here in surrender
 In pure adoration
 I enter Your courts
 With an offering of praise
 I am Your servant
 Come to bring You glory
As is fit for the work of Your hands
 [Chorus 1:]
Now unto the Lamb
 Who sits on the throne
Be glory and honor and praise
All of creation resounds with the song
 Worship and praise Him
 The Lord of lords
 Spirit now living
 And dwelling within me
 Keep my eyes fixed
 Ever on Jesus' face
Let not the things of this world
 Ever sway me
I'll run 'til I finish the race
Holy Lord
 You are holy
 Jesus Christ
 Is the Lord

Annual Global Rosary Relay for Priests

June 7th, 2013

Pray the Rosary, unite your country and encircle the world in prayer.

The Annual Global Rosary Relay idea is a simple one: in that each of the 60 participating shrines prays a particular mystery of the Rosary at a particular half hour on the day in thanksgiving to God for our priests and to implore the protection and loving care of Our Lady, Mother of all priests, for all her priestly sons. With the coming of midnight on the 7th June 2013, the entire world, by then, will have been encircled in prayer for our priests on this The Annual Rosary Relay Day.
It was the great Irish priest Fr. Patrick Peyton who never tired of saying that: 'The Family that prays together stays together.' As the family of the Church, you are invited to join our prayers to the prayers of millions throughout the world on 7th June 2013. It is an opportunity for us to raise our hearts to God for all priests in the exercise of their ministry; that they will be blessed, through our prayers, with God's grace for their priesthood; that in this worldwide communion of prayer for them, they may experience our gratitude and support; and finally that they will persevere in unity with Christ and his Church and shepherd the Lord's flock to the safe pastures of his Kingdom.

To learn how you can participate, please visit World Priest.

Holy Thursday: Prayer for Our Priests

Adoration Chapel - Benedictine Monastery, Oahu
On Holy Thursday we celebrate not only the institution of the Holy Eucharist but also the institution of the holy priesthood.  Let us pray for our priests with the Holy Thursday prayer from The Magnificat:

Sts. Peter and Paul, Honolulu
Divine Savior Jesus Christ,
who has entrusted the whole work of Your redemption,
the welfare, and salvation of the world to priests
as Your representatives,
through the hands of Your most holy Mother
and for the sanctification of Your priests
and candidates for the priesthood,
I offer You this present day wholly and entirely,
with all its prayers, works, joys, sacrifices, and sorrows.
Give us truly holy priests who, inflamed with the fire of Your divine love,
seek nothing but Your greater glory
and the salvation of our souls.

And you, Mary, good Mother of priests,
protect all priests in the dangers of their holy vocation and,
with the loving hand of a Mother, also lead back to the Good Shepherd
those poor priests who have become unfaithful to their exalted vocation and have gone astray.

Amen.

Holy gratitude for holy priests

"The life of a priest is an Advent
bringing forth the Incarnation of souls."

Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity

Let us generously remember our priests in daily prayer.

Each day when I attend Mass, as the priest kisses the altar I pray in particular gratitude for that priest and that he will have a deeper, personal encounter with Christ at that Mass. Also - when the water is added to the wine before the Consecration, I offer particular prayer for seminarians discerning the priesthood and transitional Deacons approaching Ordination - I echo a prayer of Jesus, "Ephphatha" (Be opened).~ Janette

When and how do you pray for our priests?
(I will include responses in an upcoming post during Advent.)

World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests – June 15th

Blessed John Paul II established that, on the solemnity of the Sacred Heart, the Church will observe the World Day of prayer for the Sanctification of Priests. In 2002, the Catholic Church announced a special annual world priest day, a day of prayer for the sanctification of priests to be held on the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Please pray for our priests as we observe this beautiful feast day this coming Friday!

A PRAYER FOR PRIESTS

Lord Jesus, we your people pray to You for our priests. You have given them to us for OUR needs. We pray for them in THEIR needs.

We know that You have made them priests in the likeness of your own priesthood. You have consecrated them, set them aside, annointed them, filled them with the Holy Spirit, appointed them to teach, to preach, to minister, to console, to forgive, and to feed us with Your Body and Blood.

Yet we know, too, that they are one with us and share our human weaknesses. We know too that they are tempted to sin and discouragement as are we, needing to be ministered to, as do we, to be consoled and forgiven, as do we. Indeed, we thank You for choosing them from among us, so that they understand us as we understand them, suffer with us and rejoice with us, worry with us and trust with us, share our beings, our lives, our faith.

We ask that You give them this day the gift You gave Your chosen ones on the way to Emmaus: Your presence in their hearts, Your holiness in their souls, Your joy in their spirits. And let them see You face to face in the breaking of the Eucharistic bread.

We pray to You, O Lord, through Mary the mother of all priests, for Your priests and for ours. Amen.
