Feast of Divine Mercy

Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Honolulu - Divine Mercy Sunday

...The soul that will go to confession and receive Holy Communion shall obrtain COMPLETE FORGIVENESS OF SINS AND PUNISHMENT. On that day all the divine floodgates through which grace flow are opened. LET NO SOUL FEAR TO DRAW NEAR TO ME, EVEN THOUGH ITS SINS BE AS SCARLET...

Diary of St. Faustina

Second Day of the Divine Mercy Novena:

Happy Holy Saturday! Let's pray the novena prayers today as we wait in anticipation of the resurrection of our Lord just as the Apostles waited. Let us pray for God's mercy and for a greater trust in His mercy in our hearts!

Note: I received an email from a few of our fellow novena-prayers and they asked for instructions on how to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. The instructions are linked below.

Second Day of the Divine Mercy Novena:

Today bring to Me THE SOULS OF PRIESTS AND RELIGIOUS, and immerse them in My unfathomable mercy. It was they who gave Me strength to endure My bitter Passion. Through them as through channels My mercy flows out upon mankind.

Most Merciful Jesus, from whom comes all that is good, increase Your grace in men and women consecrated to Your service,* that they may perform worthy works of mercy; and that all who see them may glorify the Father of Mercy who is in heaven.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the company of chosen ones in Your vineyard—upon the souls of priests and religious; and endow them with the strength of Your blessing. For the love of the Heart of Your Son in which they are enfolded, impart to them Your power and light, that they may be able to guide others in the way of salvation and with one voice sing praise to Your boundless mercy for ages without end.

Amen.

Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

Message about Fr. Pete's Passing

Fr. Pete spent the day resting and receiving a stream of loving visitors. Many of us ping-ponged between Pete's room and Fred Ballard's. Many prayers, rosaries and Divine Mercy Chaplets were said for Father.

The staff had treated him like the prince among men that he was. About 10 p.m. we all decided (14 of us) to serenade him with a soft lullaby version of "A New World Somewhere." So beautiful!

Not long after the gang left, Fr. Pete's breathing became more shallow and less frequent. He was pronounced dead @11:45 pm (of Thursday, April 14). His body was moved to a peaceful area for viewing and in about 4 hours will go to the University of Hawai'i for use by the medical students.

Modesto said "He was just waiting for us to serenade him."

We love you, Fr. Pete, and we have been forever changed by your love,
Jose & Mary Elizabeth

This is a portion of the message of Jose and Mary Elizabeth of the Worldwide Marriage Encounter to its members in Hawai'i. Thank you, wonderful couple.

Divine Mercy Inspires Vocations

Divine Mercy

Aside from promoting Eucharistic Adoration and the devotion to The Divine Mercy, the Eucharistic Apostles of The Divine Mercy (EADM) also strives to support, promote and pray for religious vocations. For the past 5 years, EADM Hawaii has made every effort to carry out these missions. The apostolate in Hawaii is pleased to report that a couple of seminarians have been inspired to enter the priesthood after attending Divine Mercy conferences it has organized. In addition, a few men who previously attended Divine Mercy events are now discerning on religious vocations.

Seminarians Inspired by Conferences

The Diocese of Honolulu (Hawaii) recently has seen an increase in priestly vocations. With the latest addition of Makana Aiona, the son of Hawaii’s Lieutenant Governor James Aiona, the count now comes to a total of 9 seminarians, a number the diocese has not seen in many years. The Hawaii Catholic Herald reports on two seminarians’ decision to enter the seminary and mentions Divine Mercy conferences as sources of inspiration for their calling.
