Pray for our Church and Priests

Every Catholic Church is busier than it has always been before Advent and Christmas. The Third Edition of the Roman Missal will be in full implementation at the First Sunday of Advent.

This video with Fr. Robert Barron will help to clarify some of the common misconceptions that have emerged ever since our Latin Church has agreed to implement the new translation.

Let us say extra prayers for our Church and its priests that their efforts will be blessed and that the body will be given the openness to receive the richness and fullness of the theological truths of the Church found in the new translation of the Roman Missal.

2nd Anniversary of Canonization of St. Damien of Moloka'i

Today, the 11th of October 2011, marks the 2nd anniversary of the canonization of St. Damien of Moloka'i.

A Mass in his honor was presided by Bishop Larry Silva, Bishop of the Diocese of Honolulu, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace.

A group of pilgrims from Poland is seen in one of the photos. The accompanying priests in the pilgrimage are those at the altar with the bishop. They are Fr. Janusz and Fr. Stanislaw Wojtpwicz.

Deacon John Coughlin is seen reading the gospel and assisting Bishop Larry Silva.

In the last photo is Esther G. receiving Holy Communion.

Two songs composed by Patrick Downes were sang at this Mass. They are The Heart of Damien and Saint Damien.

Music was provided by Calvin Liu, Music Director of the Cathedral.

Pope Benedict and Youth in Madrid, Spain

With smiles on his face, Pope Benedict XVI is seen arriving in Madrid, Spain. We pray for him, Spain, all delegates, and all youth participating in the event.

May the youth's experience in Madrid bring them a lasting hope that will keep them spiritually inflamed with God's presence, and with hearts renewed on their return to their homelands, they spread around them -- whether in church or in the society -- the Life of Christ himself. May their passion bear fruits in their future vocations; most of all, that many vocations to the church grow from that experience.

Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace Celebrates 168th Anniversary

The Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace celebrates today its 168th anniversary. Fr. John Berger officiates the 12 noon Mass and is joined by more than 300 of its parishioners. Fr. John invites everyone to take part in the restoration project of the cathedral since it needs much repair, being the oldest cathedral in existence that still functions as a full church.

Because today is a weekday, the church celebrated the event in a larger scale this past Sunday, August 14. Also officiated by Fr. John Berger, the Mass at 12 noon of that day was made available through a live webcast at hictv.com. Afterwards, the assembly gathered at the Kamiano Center for fellowship, food and entertainment. Alika Cullen served as the emcee, as usual, and all enjoyed his impromptu manoeuvre for providing a relaxed yet joy-filled atmosphere.

HIVTv is owned and managed by John Fielding, with its grand opening to take place at Damien Memorial School this Thursday, August 18, from 6-9 p.m. All are invited.
